SSI Stress and Rescue Course in Lanzarote: Elevate yourself to be the ultimate dive buddy

Your dive partner could be your significant other, your child, your bestie, or simply a charming new acquaintance from the dive center.  Surely they deserve the finest companion beneath the surface, right?

Enroll in the SSI Stress and Rescue course to make that happen.

The SSI Stress and Rescue course endows you with the essential confidence for both yourself and your fellow divers

Becoming a rescue diver is like becoming your friends’ superhero underwater. You’re not just there to enjoy the scenery; you’re there to ensure everyone returns home safe.

This course is more than just learning; it’s about being the friend who always has your back, even twenty meters underwater.  The Stress and Rescue course equips you with the essential tools to handle any emergency that might occur during a dive.

You’ll learn how to remain calm when the only sound around you is your own breathing beneath the water, and you’ll be prepared to take action if someone suddenly forgets how to use their regulator. It prepares you to be the kind of partner everyone wants in a tricky situation because you know how to turn problems into solutions while staying cool.

Moreover, it’s not just about solving problems; it’s also about preventing them. After this course, each dive becomes safer and more enjoyable because you know you’re prepared for anything, making diving much more relaxing.

After all, who can enjoy clownfish and anemones if they’re worried about what might go wrong? In short, being a good diving partner means being there to lend a hand, or a fin, when needed.

That’s what makes the SSI Stress and Rescue course so special.

What does the SSI Stress and Rescue course involve?

The SSI Stress and Rescue course is structured into three distinct sections:

Course Theory

In the theoretical section of the Stress and Rescue course, you’ll become a master of calmness and learn to:

  • Identify and prevent situations that might give you the chills underwater.
  • Master the art of self-rescue.
  • Develop rescue skills, from simple tasks like relieving a cramp to advanced techniques for saving an unconscious buddy deep underwater.
  • Explore various rescue scenarios, preparing for the unexpected.
  • Assess and manage diving equipment to ensure your safety and that of your companions.

You can learn the theory part of the course from anywhere in the world and at your convenience, all through the MySSI app.  Here, you’ll find everything you need to become an expert: detailed manuals, explanatory videos, review exercises, and even the final exam.

Confined Water Segment

Get ready to dive into the practical part of the course in confined waters up to 6 meters deep!

Here, you’ll have the chance to review the rescue techniques you mastered in your Open Water course, and also learn a series of new skills designed to efficiently assist and help other divers.  This module includes three intensive sessions, each packed with critical learning:

  • Stress Identification and Self-Rescue: You’ll learn to recognize stress signals in yourself and others, along with techniques to manage it on your own.
  • Assisting Anxious or Panicking Divers: You’ll develop the ability to calm and assist fellow divers in anxious situations, ensuring their safety and yours.
  • Advanced Rescue Skills: From techniques to relieve cramps to rescuing an unconscious diver.

You’ll become the ideal dive buddy.

Each session is designed not just to teach you, but to let you practice and master these essential skills, preparing you to apply them in open waters.  With each dive, you’ll not only improve your technique but also increase your confidence and responsiveness to any challenge that arises underwater.

Open Water Segment

True rescue effectiveness goes beyond merely practicing techniques—it requires sharp critical thinking and the ability to assess dynamic situations, ensuring that your actions are both safe and effective, thereby protecting your own safety and that of others.

Thus, in this exhilarating open water segment, you will partake in a sequence of realistic scenarios designed to challenge you to pre-empt, assess, and intelligently respond to emergency situations. In this environment, you will not only hone your skills but also learn to adapt them to the evolving conditions of the water.

This phase is undeniably the most challenging of the course, yet it is equally thrilling and enriching.  Prepare to experience genuine moments of learning where each decision is pivotal and every action potentially lifesaving.

Let’s plunge into the rescue adventure, where exhilaration and enjoyment are intertwined!
