What does the SSI Advanced Adventurer course involve?

The course lasts two days and has two parts:

Theory

It provides the foundation and knowledge needed to complete each dive successfully and confidently. 

You can do it from home at your own pace with the study kit accessible through the My SSI app. 

Just read the chapters of the specialties you have chosen —no pressure, you can even do it in your pajamas!

Dives:

We dive into the water to practice the specialties you’ve selected, teaching you how to plan and execute them safely. 

You’ll get hands-on experience with the necessary equipment and have a blast like a kid with a new toy.

We Understand That Plans Can Change

That’s why our reservation policy is flexible. 

If you book your Advanced Adventurer course and can’t make it on the chosen date, you can reschedule at no extra cost or cancel up to 24 hours in advance. 

Just keep in mind that the €60 for the SSI digital study kit is non-refundable. However, the kit never expires, so you can use it at Aquatis or any SSI center in the future.

My name is Sam, and I am the owner and director of Aquatis.

I started diving at the age of 8, and became an instructor at 18.

At just 14, I began working at a dive center here in Lanzarote in exchange for certifications.

I turned 18 on December 31st; a month later, I had my Divemaster certification, and two months after that, I completed my instructor course

What Can I Do with My ADVANCED Adventurer SSI Certification?

  • Dive independently with a buddy, enhancing your security and confidence.
  • Dive at any center around the world with your certification card.
  • Plan and organize dives safely and responsibly.
  • Continue your education by enrolling in the SSI Stress and Rescue specialty or other specialized courses.
  • Dive up to a depth of 30 meters if you have completed the deep diving segment.
  • Morning: 8:15 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Afternoon: 2:30 PM – 5:00 PM
  • Evening: starting at 6:00 PM in winter and 8:00 PM in summer. (A night dive typically lasts around 3 hours.)

You can complete the SSI Advanced Adventurer course in 2 mornings and one afternoon or evening (if you choose to do night diving).

We recommend the SSI Diver Stress and Rescue course. You can also explore any of the SSI specialty courses.

Specialty dives are awesome! We’ll practice various exercises and skills, and you’ll get to try out the specific equipment needed for each dive.

Yes, typically you should wait 12 hours before flying if you do one dive, and at least 18 hours if you do two. If you dive multiple times over several days, you should wait 24 hours. 

We recommend taking your Advanced Adventurer course at the start of your holidays, so you have plenty of time to enjoy more dives.

  • Be at least 10 years old.
  • Hold an SSI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent.
  • Be able to swim.
  • Complete a medical questionnaire.

No, you just need to fill out a medical questionnaire. 

If you answer yes to any of the health questions, then you’ll need to bring a medical certificate. 

You can download the questionnaire here.

No, you can complete all the theory wherever you like using the My SSI app. You only need to come to the center for the dives. And, of course, we’re here to answer any questions you may have.

Yes, it’s best to book as early as possible. We have limited spots and need time to organize everything properly.

Just bring:

  • A change of clothes for after the dive
